Who We Are
100 Women Who Care Englehart & District is a local giving circle made up of women from Englehart and the surrounding area. We meet four times a year, each member donates $100, and together we choose one local charity, project, or organization to support.
We keep things simple, transparent, and neighborly. No bake sales. No committees. No waiting. Just women helping where it matters most.
What We Do
We act quickly and give locally. Each meeting lasts about an hour, and by the end, we’ve chosen one local organization to receive every dollar we’ve collected.
When we come together, our small-town effort becomes something powerful. It’s simple, it’s direct, and it makes a real difference right here at home.
Life is the rush. We don’t wait for perfect timing. We act when help is needed.
How We Do It
Bring a Self-Addressed Envelope
Each member (or team) brings a self-addressed, stamped, and unsealed envelope to every meeting. Place your $100 donation inside — cash or cheque — and leave the payee line blank until the winning charity is chosen.
The envelopes are collected at check-in by a member of the Steering Committee.
Cheques
If you’re writing a cheque, make it for $100 and leave the payee line blank. Once voting is complete, that line will be filled in by one of our Steering Committee Members with the name of the chosen charity or organization.
Nominations
To make a nomination, your $100 donation must be submitted at the meeting (or through your proxy).
Ties and Second Votes
If there’s a tie after the first vote, we’ll hold a quick second round between the tied nominees. If it’s still tied, we’ll either flip a coin to determine the winner.
Proxy and Remote Participation
Members who can’t attend in person can still participate by submitting a Proxy Form with their donation. The authorized representative will cast your vote on your behalf during the meeting.
Receipts and Delivery
Not every nominated organization can issue tax receipts, and 100 Women Who Care Englehart & District cannot do so on their behalf. If receipts are available, they’ll come directly from the chosen organization ( in those self addressed envelopes we talked about earlier).
The Steering Committee delivers the combined donation promptly after each meeting and confirms it’s received.
Presentations
If your nomination is drawn, you’ll give a short (five-minute or less) explanation of who they are and what they do, and how the donation would benefit them.
Local Focus
Our focus is Englehart and the surrounding area. We direct our efforts and our donations in a way that benefits the people of our community.
